Cyber-Physical Life

CyPhy /ˈsaɪˌfaɪ/ Life

About

The Cyber-Physical Life (CyPhy Life) Research Group works at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, integrating diverse domains across science, engineering, design, and ethics. Our work is centered around the exploration and development of artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and human-computer interaction projects. The group's research is guided by a comprehensive framework that spans from the physical to psychological dimensions, enabling us to address complex systems at the intersection of mind, body, and technology. We are especially interested in research in the following topics:

  • The intersection of the digital and physical as a way to enhance experiences on either side
  • Robotic systems that can interface with humans individually, collectively, and institutionally
  • Decentralized technologies that can create and build new cyber-physical institutions

CyPhy Life is an independent research initiative of the Impact Xcelerator Labs at the School of Science and Technology, IE University.

Introduction to CyPhy Life

Mission

Our mission is to advance understanding and innovation in the field of cyber-physical systems by leveraging the synergies between digital and physical entities. We explore the fundamental units of life—from cells and atoms to stimuli and bits—to design and engineer systems that enhance human life and society. Ethical considerations are at the core of our work, ensuring that our innovations contribute positively to both individuals and the collective.

This holistic approach encompasses the future of an increasingly digital and interconnected world. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to pioneer new technologies and methodologies that push the boundaries of what is possible in cyber-physical interactions, robotics, automation, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence.
